Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
The view from the rock-enclosed balconies of the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge's 75 suites is without parallel. Moss-hung glades and buttressed trees give way to an vast span of earth. Such is the benefit of staying on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Follow a rope-lashed timber walkway to your air-conditioned room, clad in the boulders and stonework of the Ngorongoro and lit from within by brass lamplight dancing off mirrors. The split-level dining area, inspired by the traditional art of the Maasai people, radiates out from a circular log fire to a two-tier wall of windows, looking down upon the yawning mouth of the long-dormant volcano.
