Tortilis Camp

The Tortilis Camp, bordering Tanzania in the Amboseli National Park, has been widely praised by both travelers and industry insiders for its commitment to sustainable ecotourism. This does not come at the cost of comfort, however, as Tortilis remains popular among past visitors for its rustic charm and coziness. The 17 tents are large, and the staff places heavy emphasis on accommodating service. Raised on a wooden deck and sheltered by a traditional makuti, or thatched roof, the tents are entered via a stone veranda with a relaxing Lamu-style day bed, perfect for afternoon naps. The food is part of the charm: northern Italian recipes from the owner's family cookbook, complemented by delicious salads and herbs grown in the camp's own garden.
