Day 1 Arrive Livingstone, Zambia
Arrive at anytime in Livingstone.
Day 2 Livingstone (B)
Explore the breathtaking Victoria Falls from the Zambian side, or try some adventure activities - go white-water rafting or canoeing on the Zambezi, take an elephant-back safari, or even fly over the falls for some fantastic views in a "microlight", a motorized hanglider.
Day 3 Kasane/Chobe National Park (B)
Cross the mighty Zambezi River by ferry as we enter into Botswana. Kasane is our base for a visit to Chobe National Park, home to one of the largest elephant populations in Southern Africa. The best way to appreciate Botswana's largest national park and its thousands of resident elephants, crocodiles, and hippos, is on our included afternoon sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River.
Day 4 Makgadikgadi Area (B)
Travel south through Botswana to one of the villages near the bizarre salt pans of Makgadikgadi. If time allows, take the late afternoon tour to explore the fascinating flat landscape of the pans.
Day 5-6 Moremi Wildlife Reserve/Okavango Delta (2B,L,2D)
The Moremi area and Okavango Delta Excursion is an experience not to be missed. On our camping safari adjacent to the world's largest inland delta, enjoy game walks and traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions, marveling at the wide variety of wildlife that call this area their home. This is truly an African experience!
Day 7 Maun (B,L)
Make the most of this morning for further wildlife and nature exploration in the fascinating ecosystem of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy the scenery on your flight back over the delta to Maun, and prepare for your journey across the Kalahari Desert.
Day 8 Greater Kalahari (Gobabis) (B,D)
Today is spent travelling across the western regions of Botswana, and into Namibia. We will travel along the northern portions of the Kalahari Desert throughout the day - this is a severely arid, barren, though awesome landscape. After arrival, embark on an included game drive to to the Kalahari Forest area in search of kudu, blue wildebeest, and small antelope.
Day 9 Windhoek (B)
Travel west for a short trip to the capital of Namibia. Take the afternoon to tour the historic city, visit one of Windhoek's many handicraft markets, and enjoy one final meal together with your group.
Day 10-11 Etosha National Park (2B)
Etosha in waMbo means "the great white place of dry water". As one of Africa’s highlights, the Etosha National Park offers a variety of wildlife and phenomenal natural beauty. Explore the pans and the park on game drives, with excellent opportunities to spot lion, giraffe, elephant, rhino, and antelope. Spend your nights at a scenic lodge on the outskirts of the park.
Day 12 Damaraland (B)
Enjoy one last morning game drive in search of the "Big 5", and begin moving south into the stony desert landscape of Damaraland - the fascinating region of the Dama people. From our lodge near the town of Khorixas, take a unique donkey cart ride through the village to learn about culture and local traditions.
Day 13-14 Swakopmund (2B)
Heading south through Damaraland, en route we’ll have a chance to visit some of the local attractions. We will spend 2 nights in Swakopmund, an area with a lunar landscape where you can explore this historical town or try some of the numerous activities available, such as dune boarding and a dolphin cruise.
Day 15-16 Namib Desert (2B)
Travel through mountains and cross into the void regions of the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei. Day 16 is spent exploring the natural wonders of this bizarre environment; we will visit the scenic Sesriem Canyon, and have a guided walk at Sossusvlei - a clay pan, enclosed by the world’s largest sand dunes, up to 300m high. Here you can try your best to climb the largest mound of sand that you've ever seen!
Day 17 Aus (B)
We cross the incredible southern section of the Namib Desert and make a stop to visit the educational Wild Cat Project near the village of Hammerstein. Here learn about the phenomenal work of rehabilitating cheetahs.
Day 18 Fish River Canyon/Gariep River (B)
Journey to Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, and arguably the second largest in the world. Spend some time here taking in the majestic beauty of the canyon. We take some time for lunch in the area, and continue south as we slowly leave the Namib Desert behind us. At Gariep River, which makes up the border between Namibia and South Africa, take a walk in the nearby village, have a swim, relax, or take a ride down the river in a canoe.
Day 19 Lambert's Bay (B)
Travelling from Namibia, we cross the Gariep River into South Africa. We have a good day's travel through this dry and remote portion of South Africa. In the late afternoon, we arrive at the picturesque town of Lambert's Bay on the West Coast of South Africa.
Day 20 Cape Town (B)
Travel inland, and at Clanwilliam we continue south with the Cederberg Mountains in the distance. After a few hours, we approach the famous, beautiful, and cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. Enjoy some free time to explore the historic center, the prominent Table Mountain, or just sit back and enjoy some good wine after an incredible journey.
Day 21 Depart Cape Town (B)
Depart any time after 8am.
