Sanctuary Chief's Camp

If the Chobe National Park is the elephant capital of Africa, the Okavango Delta is the predator capital. Since Chief's Camp opened in the exclusive Mombo Concession on the delta in 1999, 52 different lions have been identified within a 6-mile radius, and leopards are spotted every two to three game drives. The camp has also been graced by the stately presence of the cheetah, which look fast even in repose. The main lodge at Chief's Camp houses an elegant dining area, curio shop, library and reception area. The swimming pool is built into the main viewing deck, which looks out onto the flood plain and the elephants that stroll across its marshy wetland. Each of the 12 bush pavilions is a picture of luxury, with private en-suite bathrooms and verandas, and interior design on a par with the beauty of the delta.
